Poll, Baby, Poll!
Ballot access, maps, and UT-01’s fresh polling data
Lightning round: We’re making it on the ballot! Prop 4 is not. Gerrymandering is out, running as a progressive in Utah is in. The recent poll with Data for Progress shows that with some basic messaging, we easily beat Ben McAdams.
For a long time, people have said a progressive campaign like ours could not win here. The numbers show something different. With this new district, recent polling data, and our grassroots momentum - we can win this.
Making the Ballot
We celebrated reaching the signature threshold to get on the ballot with our team, volunteers and supporters at Blue Gene’s bar last week. With a Lagunitas Hop Water in hand and a disco ball overhead, I got to take a second to enjoy how far we’ve already come. A lot of work went into getting to this point and I am grateful for everyone who helped make it happen.
Our Recent Poll
I’m proud of the work we’ve done to get within striking distance of the establishment’s choice in CD1.
1️⃣ I’ll fight to increase the minimum wage and to protect reproductive freedom, not oppose them like Ben McAdams.
2️⃣ I won’t take money from corporate PACs, ICE contractors, or pro-Israel lobby groups unlike our opponent.
3️⃣ I’m going to stand up to Trump and hold his administration accountable, not vote to enable him to take us to war like McAdams has.
We are building a campaign focused on the needs of everyday Utahns and that’s why our message resonates with this new district.
Read excerpts from the poll memo below, and chip in to help us spread our message.
Here’s where we start:
This isn’t surprising – we’re a grassroots progressive campaign without the name recognition of Ben McAdams.
Here’s where stuff gets interesting:
After reading neutral bios for both of us, we get significant support.
Notably, almost half of the voters who reported being undecided in the initial ask shift to supporting us after reading bios on both candidates, and only around 1 in 10 voters remain undecided.
And here’s the real kicker:
Voters then read positive messaging on both of us focused on our values, plans, and tenures in office, respectively. We see us pull ahead and establish a 6-point lead over McAdams among primary voters.
These results are huge for our campaign, and it’s clear that if we get our message to voters, we’ll easily win.
In solidarity,
Nate Blouin
